Frances A. Calvin, 70, Championship Golfer

Frances A. Calvin (nee Beachler), 70, of Lorain, died Wednesday April 11, 2007 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a short illness.

She was born December 24, 1936 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Fran was a graduate of Lorain High School with the class of 1954 B. She worked as a secretary for the American Ship Building Company in Lorain for several years.

Fran was a championship golfer and over the years she was able to claim five holes-in-one. She was a member of the Greater Cleveland Golf Association, the Oberlin Golf Club and the Lorain City District Golf Association. She was also an excellent bowler and had two 700 series. More recently she was in several dart leagues including the Ohio Vending Dart League. She also enjoyed casinos and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her son Mark John Yepko of Lansing, Michigan, stepson Neil Calvin of Seattle, Washington, stepdaughter Heather Calvin Jones of Amherst, mother Frances Thomas Beachler of Lorain, brothers John Paul Beachler and Ronald James Beachler, both of Amherst, Frank Thomas Beachler of Mission, Texas and Donald James Beachler of Lorain, sisters Barbara Ruth Taylor of Winchester, Kentucky, Aloha Jean Kuzniar of Hendersonville, North Carolina and Bonny Louise Keene of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, first husband Dr. Hubert J. Yepko of Wilmington, North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her second husband John Gordon Calvin, father John Paul Beachler, Sr. and sister Cheryl Bloomfield.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 16, 2007, from 2-4, 6-8 PM at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 12:00 noon. The Rev. Charles Henkle, associate pastor of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain, will officiate. Cremation will follow.
