Mary C. Cunningham, 84, Manager of DeLuca's Bakery Shop

Mary C. Cunningham (nee Mehallic), age 84, of Lorain, died Sunday April 15, 2007 following an extended illness.

Mrs. Cunningham was born in Dunbar, Pennsylvania on August 24, 1922. She had been a resident of Lorain for more than forty-four years. She had also resided in Citrus Heights, California for seven years.

A parishioner of Saint Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lorain, she was employed for many years as the manager of the DeLuca’s Bakery Shop formerly located in the Lorain Plaza Shopping Center. She also worked for a number of years in the electronics industry where she worked with p.c. boards.

She frequently volunteered her time in assisting with fellowship dinners and luncheons at Saint Mary Church and she enjoyed baking nut rolls and cookies during the holidays. Mary participated for many years in the Fruehauf Women’s Bowling League at Shoreway Lanes. She also liked traveling and especially enjoyed trips to California, Las Vegas, and Pennsylvania, as well as taking bus trips to Canada.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Fran Kapucinski and son-in-law Ray of Folsom, California, grandson Eric Kapucinski and wife Jessica of Folsom, granddaughter Mindy Kapucinski of Folsom, great grandson Brandon Kapucinski of Folsom, brothers Joe Mehallic of Kekitcham, Alaska, and Bob Mehallic of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, and sister Margaret Tomechko of Uniontown, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Francis X. Cunningham, her parents Sebastian and Mary (nee Rusnac) Mehallic, brothers Sam Mehallic, Steve Mehallic, Andy Mehallic, Mike Mehallic, and John Mehallic, and sister Vera Dzamba.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 19, 2007, beginning at 8:30 a.m. until time of prayer service at 9:30 a.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway – Lorain. The mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary of the Lake Catholic Church – corner of Eight Street and Reid Avenue in Lorain with the Reverend Daniel O. Divis, pastor of the parish, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery – Lorain.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions in her name to St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 309 7th St., Lorain, OH 44052.
