Cecilia A. Snahnican, 85, Enjoyed Reading & Traveling
Cecilia A. Snahnican, 85, of Sheffield Lake, died Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Golden Acres Nursing Home in Amherst after a short illness.She was born November 22, 1921 in Lakewood and had resided in Sheffield Lake for the past 40 years.
Cecilia served with the US Army during World War II as a secretary at several bases in the United States.
She was the head chef at Aquamarine in Avon Lake for many years and in the 1960’s was a cook at the Tropicana in Avon Lake.
Cecilia was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Sheffield Lake and the church Ladies Guild. She enjoyed reading, traveling, baking and home cooking.
She is survived by her sister Mary Pizzi of Margate, Florida, nephews Bernard Polasky of Sheffield Lake, John Polasky of Cleveland, Arthur Pizzi of Margate, Florida, Michael Pizzi of Margate Florida, Louis Friedl of Texas, Raymond Friedl of Kentucky and Ronnie Friedl of California, nieces Agnes Maag of Cleveland, Barbara Holley of Sheffield Lake, Melody Fusco of Margate, Florida and April Pizzi of Margate, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents Anton & Anna Snahnican (nee Kolesar), sisters Millie parker, Anne Friedl and Agnes Polasky and brothers Anthony Snahnican and Edward Snahnican.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 30, 2007 from 6-9 p.m. at the Gluvna, Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held in the funeral chapel on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 521 Harris Road, Sheffield Lake. The Rev. Stephen Shields, pastor will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland.
