Gustav Adolph Binder, 96, Saxon Club Manager

Gustav Adolph Binder, 96, of Lorain passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2007, at Community Health Partners Regional Health Center in Lorain following a brief illness.

Mr. Binder was born in Lorain, on September 25, 1910. He was a lifelong resident. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church Lorain. He was very active in the Church, held several positions and served on Church Council for many years

He retired as the club manager at Saxon Club Lorain, Ohio following 35 of years. He also had worked for B & O Railroad, City Of Lorain and the Lorain Stove Works. In addition to working there, Mr. Binder was a longtime member of the Saxon Club and served in several capacities and offices.

Mr. Binder was an avid sport fan. He was an accomplished bowler. He especially enjoyed the Cleveland Indians. He was inducted into Lorain Bowler's Hall Of Fame in 1988 .

He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Mildred Louise (nee Nuhn) Binder, daughters Jean K. McKitrick and Wilma A. Paghi both of Lorain, 10 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Joan A. Gleisner, a grandson Steve Gleisner and his parents Gustav and Katherine (Shuster) Binder.

Friends may call on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, from 5 – 8 p.m. at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. Additionally friends may call Wednesday, May 1, 2007, from 11:00 a.m. until services time at Noon in the Zion Lutheran Church, 5100 Ashland, Ave., Lorain, Ohio with Rev. Kevin Saylor, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery Amherst Township, OH.

Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 5100 Ashland Ave. Lorain.
