Juanita Pearl Barefield, 76, E & J Ceramics Owner
Juanita Pearl (nee Milligan) Barefield, 76, of Lorain died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at Community Health Partners & Surgical Center in Lorain following a long illness.Mrs. Barefield was born in Shinnston, West Virginia on November 30, 1930. She has been a Lorain resident since moving here in 1945. She was a member of Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church in Lorain.
She owned and operated the E & J Ceramics in Lorain and Vermilion for more than 20 years retiring in the early 1990's. She was also a well known ceramics teacher.
Mrs. Barefield was a member of the Issac Walton Conservation League of America and 12 Incorporated - Foster Care Organization, and the Board of Directors of the Vermilion on the Lake Club house. She and her husband were foster parents for 13 years.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ernest C. Barefield, son Allen Barefield of Vermilion, OH, daughters Barbara A. Johnson, Donna I. Goodman and Cathy D. Dieterich all of Lorain, OH, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, a brother Ben Milligan of Deland, FL, several nieces and nephews and many foster children.
Mrs. Barefield enjoyed flower gardening, ceramics, gospel music, auctions and the beautiful outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Van and Ada Gay (nee Martin) Milligan, brothers Leslie, Charles, James and Claude (Mick) Milligan, sisters Katherine Vanderhoff, Mary Reynolds and Anna Mae Rector
Friends may call on Thursday, May 3, 2007, from 2 PM - 4 PM and 6PM - 8PM at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 4, 2007, at 10 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Howard Carroll, pastor of Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Avon, Ohio.
