Helen Timko, 96, Enjoyed Sewing & Crafts

Helen R. Timko (nee Smith), 96, of Lorain, died Tuesday May 8, 2007 in the emergency room at Community Regional Medical Center in Lorain after a short illness.

She was born March 22, 1911 in Heilwood, Pennsylvania and had resided in Lorain since childhood.

Helen attended Holy Trinity School in Lorain. She worked as a waitress at Heilman’s Ranch House on the loop in Lorain, at McGarvey’s Restaurant in Vermilion and then at Liteheiser’s in Vermilion retiring in 1972.

She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain, the AARP and Royal Neighbors. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, making doll clothes and working with beads.

She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law with whom she made her home Michael and Jeanne Timko of Lorain, daughter & son-in-law Helen and Albert DeSantis of Columbus, grandchildren Michael Jr. and Michelle and sister Veronica Matyas of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Michael J. Timko in 1972, grandson Danny in 1974, parents Michael and Elizabeth Smith (nee Fetcho) and brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 10:30 AM at Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Mr. Jim Debrason, deacon of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church of Lorain will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
