Kathleen Schwartz, 62, Active In The Catholic Church Of Saint Peter

Mrs. Schwartz was born in Port Clinton, Ohio on July 29, 1944 and had been a resident of Vermilion since 1980.
She graduated from Port Clinton, High School and went on to serve in the United States Air Force; she fulfilled duty assignments as a Medical Services Technician at the rank of Airman Second Class.
She was formerly employed as a teller for the Second Federal Savings Bank.
An active parishioner of the Catholic Church of Saint Peter in Lorain, Kathy was a member of the Pre Cana Team there and was also a facilitator for the Marriage Encounter Group. She was an instructor in the Parish School of Religion and served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and volunteer Sacristan at the church. She was a member of the Third Order of Saint Francis.
Mrs. Schwartz was a member of the VFW Post # 7576 Auxiliary in Vermilion whose hobbies included gardening and home decorating. She was also an avid runner who participated extensively in local distance events.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-nine years Robert L. Schwartz, daughters Jennifer McMonagle of University Heights, Beth Schwartz of Hiram, and Jeanette Schwartz of Cleveland Heights, grandsons Robert and Michael Greenwood, brother Charles Danny Podgurski of Willard, and sisters Phyllis Laufhatte of Norwalk and Andrea Williams of Madison.
She was preceded in death by her father Casmir Podgurski and by her mother Evelyn (nee French) Podgurski-Kalinowski.
Closing prayers will be offered on Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at 9:30 a.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. A funeral mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the Catholic Church of Saint Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Kenneth Wolnowski, Pastor of Saint Peter Parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion where military honors will be conducted by members of the Vermilion Veterans Council.
