Raymond E. Beckler, 81, Business Manager of Plumber & Steamfitter's Local # 42

He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy where he served as a Torpedo Man in the Pacific Theater.
Ray was employed as the Business Manager for Plumber’s & Steamfitter’s Local # 42 of Norwalk. He retired in 1986 after holding that post for fifteen years. Prior to his appointment with Local # 42, he had worked as a regular member of Plumber & Steamfitter’s Local # 830 of Lorain; he had formerly been employed as a welder for the American Shipbuilding Company.
Mr. Beckler was a naturalist who enjoyed feeding and taking care of the various forms of wildlife that visited his yard.
He is survived by his daughter Debra Ziler of Lorain, son Dale Beckler of Vermilion, stepdaughter Paula Shorf residing in California, a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother Harvey Rick Beckler of South Amherst, and sisters Betty Kish and Barbara Barnhart both of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian A. (nee Brosky) in 1996, by his parents William J. and Anna (nee Webber) Beckler, by brothers James and William, and by sisters Geraldine Beckler and Dorothy Beckler.
Friends may call Monday from 4:00 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Avenue Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Art Wiegand, Pastor of the Sanctuary of the First Congregational Church of South Amherst presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Lorain.
