Geraldine L. Los, 78, Lifetime Resident of the Amherst Area
Geraldine L. Los (nee: Winiarski), 78 years of age, and a resident of Amherst Township, passed away Monday, May 21, 2007 at Oberlin Medical Center.She was born January 7, 1929 in Lorain, Ohio. Geraldine has been a lifetime resident of the Amherst area.
In addition to being a homemaker, she was employed as a bank teller at the former Oberlin Savings Bank. Geraldine was an active member of Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in South Amherst, where she had served as president of the Altar and Rosary Society. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, crocheting, and reading.
Survivors include her son David C. Los and Walter J. Los, Jr., both of Amherst; her daughters Gale Baker of Mentor, Ohio and Sally Kutney of Kansas City, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren; her brothers William Winiarski of New London, Paul Winiarski of Rock Port, Texas, and Ronald Winiarski of South Amherst; and her sisters Lois McCue of South Amherst and Dolores Ruth of New London.
She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-three years, Walter J. Los, Sr. in 1973; by her son Gary Los in 1967; by her parents Charles and Catherine Winiarski (nee: Misner); by her brother Charles Winiarski, Jr.; and by her sister Patricia in infancy.
Friends may call Thursday, May 24, 2007, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Closing prayers will be held on Friday, May 25, 2007, at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. from the Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church; 333 South Lake Street, South Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Denis St. Marie, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
