Donald L. Smith, 65, Life-long Member of the American Slovak Club

Photo of Donald L.  Smith Donald L. Smith, 65 of Oberlin, died unexpectedly at Communty Regional Health Partners Hospital in Lorain on Wednesday, May 23,2007.

Mr. Smith was born in Marietta, OH on December 6, 1941 and has lived in the Lorain area for the past 40 years. He was agraduate of Marietta High School. He was a US Army veteran during the Vietnam era. He attended Emmanuel United MethodistChurch.

He was a folding and cutting operator in the binding department of the former Lorain Printing Company. He retired in 2002 following 23 years service. He also owned and operated th Moroni Printing Company in Elyria in the late 1970's.

He enjoyed traveling, reading, bird watching, camping and computering. He was a former assistant scout leader and coached Hot Stove baseball. He was also a life-long member of the American Slovak Club.

He is survived by daughters Terri L. Schramm of Wellington, Karen L. Farlow, Barbara A. Palinski both of Lorain, Janice L. Prest of Pine Hurst, NC; sons Donald L. Smith, Jr., Scott R. Farlow both of Lorain, Charles R. Farlow of Sheffield Lake, Mark D. Farlow of Nova, OH; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters Charlene Skinner of Lowell, OH, and Betty Schmelzenbach of Greensboro, NC.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce(nee: Falls) Smith in 2004; parents Fred J. and Virginia A. (nee: Jackson) Smith; and a brother Clifford Smith.

Friends may call Friday, May 25, 2007 at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Noon in the funeral home with Chaplain Beth McKee, of the Weslyan Methodist Village, officiating.

Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Township, OH with full military honors provided jointly by the American Legion Post 30 and the Veterans of Foreigns Wars Post 451.

The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, Northern Lake Region 1689 E. 115th Street Cleveland, OH 44106.
