Shirley Ooten-Napier, 68, Member of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church
Shirley B. Ooten-Napier (nee: McDonald), 68 years of age, and a resident of Amherst Township, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007 at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain following a lengthy illness.She was born November 14, 1938 in Morgantown, West Virginia. Shirley had made her home in Cuyahoga County and Amherst for the last forty-eight years.
Shirley was a member of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church in South Amherst. She had formerly managed apartment buildings in Lorain and Cuyahoga County. Shirley enjoyed playing bingo and going to garage sales.
Survivors include her husband Edward H. Napier of Amherst Township; her sons David M. Ooten of Phoenix, Arizona and Edward H. Napier, Jr. of North Ridgeville; her daughters Diana L. Blaydes of Lewisville, Texas, Patricia A. Smith, and Regina B. Malleo both of Parma; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous brothers and sisters.
She was preceded in death by her sister; and by her parents Richard and Madeline McDonald (nee: Vannoy).
Friends may call Wednesday, May 30, 2007 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Carson Fraley, pastor of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon.
