Milton Joesph Buswell, 87, Served in the U.S. Navy
Milton Joseph Buswell, 87 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, passed away Monday, May 28, 2007 at the Hospital for Orthopedic & Specialty Services in Amherst following a sudden illness.He was born January 31, 1920 in Elyria where he was raised and graduated from Elyria High School with the class of 1938. Elyria has been his home all his life.
He served in the US Navy during World War II, where he received the Asiatic Theater Ribbon with one bronze star and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star. Milton attended the former Finn College, now Cleveland State University. He was employed by Moen, Inc. for forty-six years, retiring in 1985 from the machine repair department. He was a member of the Lake Avenue United Methodist Church in Elyria and was a former member of the Elyria AMVETS. He loved his job, but enjoyed spending his leisure time bowling, gardening, fishing, swimming, and hunting.
Survivors include his wife of forty-five years, Anna Margaret Buswell (nee: Guilmette); his daughter Diane Carlson of Solon, OH; his grandchildren Kirstina Carlson and James Carlson; his sister Delores Widdowson of Wellington.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest Elvin and Marcelle Buswell (nee: Jacques).
Friends may call Wednesday, May 30, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services, with the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard performing honors, will be held Thursday, May 31, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. fomr the funeral home. The Rev. Robert Gross, pastor of Lake Avenue United Methodist Church in Elyria, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memory Park, Amherst Township.
