Florence E. "Flossie" McVey, 79, Original Member of First Ladies Golf League

Florence E. “Flossie” McVey (nee Ellis), 79, of Lorain, died Wednesday May 30, 2007 at her home after a lengthy illness.

She was born April 13, 1928 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Flossie was a graduate of the Lorain High School class of 1946 A. Before she had her family she worked at US Steel in the Planning Department for 3 years. After her children were grown she worked at Industrial Cleaning as a bookkeeper before retiring.

She was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain and an original member of the First Ladies Golf League in Vermilion. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her home and yard.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years Jack McVey, sons David McVey and his wife Pamela of Vermilion and Daniel McVey of Lorain, brothers Robert Ellis of Lorain, James Ellis and Paul Ellis, both of Englewood, Florida and sister Virginia Findley of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul & Florence Ellis (nee Pfieffer) and sister Marjorie Beres.

The family will receive friends Sunday 5-8 p.m. at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Chuck Henkle, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
