Joseph A. Perritt, Jr., 93, U.S. Army Veteran

Mr. Perritt was born in Rush Run, OH on May 9, 1914, and lived the majority of his life in Lorain.

He was a US Army Veteran serving during WW II, attaining the rank of sergeant. He was awarded the EAME Theater Service Medal with one bronze star, American Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. For wounds received in battle during the European Theater of Operations, he received the Purple Heart.

He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Lorain. He had been a boxer, enjoyed fishing, playing baseball and was an avid golfer. Mr. Perritt retired from the roll shop at the US Steel after 42 years of service.

He is survived by his sons: Jerry Perritt of Dade City, FL., Bill Perritt of Avon Lake, and Bob Perritt of Amherst. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

Mr. Perritt was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Bessie B. Perritt (nee Miller) in 2003, daughter Jean G. Perritt, parents Joseph A (Pyryt) and Frances (nee: Dule) Perritt, sister Helen Thomas, brothers Bill, Stan, and John.

Services were private. Rev. Matthew Darrin, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church officiated. . Burial at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township with full military honors provided jointly by the American Legion Post 30 and the VFW Post 451.
