Photo of John Maloney John Maloney, 60, of Amherst, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at his home after a sudden illness.

He was born January 9, 1947 in Lorain, and had lived in Amherst the past 25 years.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving in Vietnam.

He was an Electronic Technician for U.S. Steel, Lorain Works for 35 years retiring in 2001.

He was a member of Nativity of The Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Lorain, VFW Post 451, Lorain, Amvets Post 47, Lorain, Vietnam Veterans of America, American Slovak Club, and the USBC (United States Bowling Congress). He enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his sisters, Susan Burich of Sheffield Village, and Ginny Hawes of Elyria; brother, Larry Maloney of Avon; and 12 nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Dorothy (nee Czarney) Maloney.

Friends may call Sunday, June 24, 2007 from 4-8 p.m. at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio.

Prayers will be said at the Funeral Home on Monday June 25, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain, with Reverend Robert J. Glepko officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain with the V.F.W. Mullen-Murray Post #451 conducting military honors.
