Evelyn M. Barnhart, 84, Daughter of Lorain Builder's Association President

Mrs. Barnhart was born in Amherst, Ohio on March 5, 1923 and had been a resident of Lorain County for her entire life.

A graduate of Lorain High School, she worked briefly in the foundry industry following her graduation.

In her free time, she enjoyed league bowling and was a multiple champion in lady’s doubles competition throughout the area. Additional interests included attending flea markets and garage sales.

She is survived by a brother Claude M. Rahl of Lorain along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Nelson “Darby” Barnhart in 1998, by her father A.W. Rahl (former President of the Lorain Builder’s Association), her mother Edith (nee Battenhouse) Rahl, along with a brother Leroy Rahl.

Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Art Wiegand will officiate. Burial will follow in North Murray Ridge Cemetery in Elyria Township.
