Mary Koscho, 95, Proprietor Of Koscho's Korner Store

Mrs. Koscho was born in Vesta # 6, Pennsylvania on May 9, 1912 and had been a resident of Lorain since 1928.

She, along with her late husband, Michael, was the proprietor of Koscho’s Korner, a variety store formerly located at the corner of East Erie and Florida Avenue. She retired in 1977 after thirty-two years ownership and management of the store.

She was a parishioner of Saint Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in as well as a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and the Senior Citizens Organization of Lorain.

Mary was proud to have received the Ohio Governor’s Award from former Governor Richard Celeste and Secretary of State Bob Taft acknowledging fifty consecutive years of voting.

Mrs. Koscho is survived by her son Michael C. Koscho and daughter-in-law Rose Marie residing in Lorain,grandsons Michael and Jason, great grandsons Michael and John "Jack", and sister Susan Boehm residing in Medina.

She was preceded in death by her husband Michael in 1993, her father Charles Zabrusky in 1957, her mother (nee Bolena) Zabrusky in 1928, by sisters Ann Fecko, Helen Pravica, Martha Zabrusky, and Barb Vargo, and by brother Charles Zabrusky.

Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. A Parastas service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral chapel. Funeral services will be Tuesday beginning with a Panachida service at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the conduction of the Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, 2711 West 40th Street, Lorain. The Reverend Nicholas Rachford, Pastor of Saint Nicholas Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
