Regina S. Diamond, 84, Active in the Christian Education of Children

Regina S. Diamond (nee: Larkin), 84, of Lorain, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at her home after a brief illness.

She was born September 28, 1922 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania and had resided in Lorain since 1969.

Regina graduated from Mount Mercy College (currently Carlow University) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1944 with a high honor B.A. in Sociology. While in college and for 10 years after graduation she worked in the law office of her cousin J. Paul Farrell in McKeesport.

Regina was an active member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain where she was especially involved in the Christian education of children by volunteering at St. Peter School and teaching CCD classes. In 1975 she was elected to a three-year term on the Lorain County Catholic Education Board.

She is survived by her daughter Cleta Marie McGervey of Avon Lake, sons Col. John J. Diamond, Jr. serving with the US Air Force in Tampa, Florida, Michael Diamond of North Olmsted and Timothy Diamond of Cleveland and 7 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John J. Diamond, Sr. on January 31, 2000, parents Francis and Sara Larkin (nee McNeil), sisters Marie Larkin, Sister Mary Cleta Larkin RSM and Loretta Loftus and brother Rev. Regis F. Larkin.

The family will receive friends Thursday 2-5, 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by the mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Kenneth J. Wolnowski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
