Miguel A. Rivera
Miguel A. Rivera, 80 of Lorain, died Wednesday, July 25, 2007 in New Life Hospice Center of Saint Joseph, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.He was born January 22, 1927 in Caguas, Puerto Rico. He immigrated to Lorain in 1948. After his retirement in 1976, he moved back to Caguas and returned to Lorain in 1986.
Mr. Rivera retired 1976 from blast furnaces at Lorain- Cuyahoga Works of United States Steel, Lorain. He worked there for 27 Years.
He was a member of Templo Bethel in Lorain, where he was dedicated to evangelistic work. He was also a member of the United Steel workers Union Local 1104 of Lorain. Mr. Rivera relished spending time with his family. He enjoyed collecting and recording music on cassettes.
Among the survivors are his wife of 50 years Regina (nee Alamo) Rivera of Lorain; son Miguel A. Rivera, Jr. of Tampa, Florida, daughter Esther Flores of Springfield, Massachusetts; brothers Maximino Rivera Luquis Jr. and Ramon Rivera Luquis both of Caguas, Puerto Rico; sisters Josefina Rivera Luquis of Caguas, Puerto Rico, Cristina Rivera and Herminia Berlingeri both of Lorain; five grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents Maximino Rivera and Fransisca Luquis; brothers Candido Rivera and Monserrate Rivera and a sister Maria Rivera.
Friends may call Friday, July 27, 2007, 4:00 until time of service at 7:00 p.m. in Templo Bethel, 1829 East 31st Street, Lorain, where the funeral service will be Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Hector Lopez, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, Ohio.
