Laura S. Long, 102, Member of the Christian Temple, Disciples of Christ Church

Photo of Laura S.  Long Laura S. Long, 102 years of age,(nee Scott) of Lorain died on Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at the home of her son, Mack Long in Lorain following a short illness.

Mrs. Long was born in Guthrie Center, Iowa on October 17, 1904. She was raised in the state of Iowa and has lived in Lorain for the past 84 years. She worked at Mills Seed Store in the 1940's. She most recently was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Christian Temple, Disciples of Christ Church and was very active in her church. She was past president of the Christian Women's Fellowship. She made afghans for many church members and new born children.

Mrs. Long is survived by a daughter Mildred " Millie" Hellinger of Lorain, sons Mack Long of Lorain, James Long of Avon Lake, 7 grandchildren, (primary care-giver was granddaughter Linda Thompson), 6 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Fred D. Long, her parents M. E. and Maggie (nee Burris) Scott, two grandsons, Fred D. Long II and Jack M. Long, and sisters Jessie Huston, Gladys Hollar, Chella McCabe, Josie Beer, Letha Scott.

Friends may call at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain on Thursday, August 2, 2007, from 4-7 p.m.

Additionally, friends may call at the Christian Temple, Disciples of Christ Church, 940 5th Street, Lorain on Friday, August 3, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Dr. Bradley J. Donahue, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery Amherst Township, OH.

The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Parish Nurse Fund at Christian Temple, Disciples of Christ Church, 940 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
