Mary Burtze, 92, Enjoyed Cooking & Crocheting
Mary Burtze (nee Rogan), 92, of Lorain, died Monday August 6, 2007 at her home while under the care of New Life Hospice.She was born November 13, 1914 in Vestaburg, Pennsylvania and had resided in Lorain most of her life.
Mary worked at US Steel in the Galvanizing & Coupling Shop for 30 years before retiring. She worked alongside her husband Frank and when they retired they were featured in a story in the Lorain Journal.
She was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain and enjoyed cooking, crocheting and working around her home.
She is survived by her sons Frank Burtze and his wife Mary of Elyria and Jerry Burtze and his wife Sherry of Lorain, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter and 2 sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank F. Burtze in 1980, parents John & Annie Rogan (nee Stas), 1 great granddaughter, 2 sisters and 1 brother.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 10, 2007 from 2-4, 7-9 PM at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Laurie Miller, pastor of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
