Frances E. 'Fritz' Kovach, 88, Had Vegetable Stand on Middle Ridge Road

Frances E. “Fritz” Kovach (nee Kosakowski), 88, of Amherst Township, died Monday August 20, 2007 at Community Regional Medical Center in Lorain.

She was born September 19, 1918 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain/Amherst Township resident.

Frances worked at US Steel in Lorain for 17 years as a pipe bundler in the pipe mill.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain and the church Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed growing vegetables and plants and selling them at her stand in front of her home on Middle Ridge Road. She also enjoyed playing cards, bingo and traveling to Las Vegas.

She is survived by her daughters Betty Ann Dzoba of Amherst Township and Virginia Mae Nieto of Lorain, sons Joe Kovach of Wakeman and Bill Kovach of Huron, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, brother John Kosakowski of Lorain and sisters Elizabeth Heider, Stella Mihalic, Theresa Tomaszewski and Helen Olexa, all of Lorain and Mary Ann Jessel of Birmingham.

She was preceded in death by her husband William A. Kovach in 2000, parents Stanislaus & Sophie Kosakowski (nee Kunkle) and brothers Carl Kosakowski, Phillip Kosakowski and John Valentine Kosakowski.

The family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna Shimo Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the St. Stanislaus Altar & Rosary Society will recite the rosary Wednesday at 3:00 p.m..

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David A. Novak, parish administrator, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
