Pearl A. Burk, 97, Loved Flower Gardening, Sewing, and Crocheting

Pearl A. Burk (nee Drechler), age 97, of Lorain, died Wednesday August 22nd at the Autumn Aegis Care Center in Lorain following an extended illness. Pearl was born in Lorain on August 16, 1910 and remained a life-long resident of the city.

She was employed as a seamstress for the Goodall’s Clothing Company (predecessor to the Richman Brother Clothiers) in Lorain.

She was an active member of Saint John United Church of Christ in Lorain where she was a member of the Alethea Group and the Couples’ Club. She and her late husband also formerly served as church custodians.

Pearl was a life member of Queen City Chapter # 66 Order of the Eastern Star, and was a volunteer at the former Lorain Community Hospital. In her spare time she enjoyed participating in activities at the Lorain Senior Center as well as flower gardening, sewing, and crocheting.

She is survived by her daughter Colleen Knight of Lorain, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a brother Paul Drechler of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 1979, by parents Paul and Amelia (nee Pries) Drechler, and by a sister Evelyn who died during her childhood.
