Carl J. Kosa, 90, Was a Veteran and enjoyed bowling and volunteering

He was born December 26, 1916 in Lorain. He was a life long resident. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1934.
After World War II, Mr. Kosa owned and operated Carl's Barbershop on Broadway until the early 1970'S. After that, he continued to the hair of his clients at Delmonico's Barbershop in Lorain.
He served in North Africa in the United States Army Air corps in World War II.
Mr. Kosa was an active member of Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ, Lorain where he served as a past chairman and treasurer of the Church and a past Hungarian Chairman of the church. He was a member and a past vice president of the Hungarian Reformed Sick Benefit Society. He was a trustee of both the Hungarian Council and the American Hungarian Citizens Club. He was also a member of the Hungarian Friends Society and the Central Lorain Businessmen's Club. Mr. Kosa was a 32nd Degree Mason, member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland and a past Master of the Sheffield Masonic Lodge 628, F. & A. M., Lorain and then in 2003 the Black River Masonic Lodge 786 F. & A. M. Lorain. He enjoyed bowling. He bowled on the Over the Hill Gang, Slovak and the Senor Friendship league's. Mr. Kosa had logged over 500 volunteer hours in Community Health Partners Regional Medical Center, Lorain.
Among the survivors are his nieces Debra Miller of Wichita, Kansas, Terri Dore and LouAnn Macri both of San Jose, California and Darleen Rico of Lorain, nephew Tony Kosa of Vallejo, California.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Irene Kosa (nee Hennesse) in 1993, daughter Patricia Elaine Kosa, parents Charles E. and Rose (nee Vargo) Kosa, brothers Louis Kosa, Edward Kosa, and Robert Kosa.
Friends may call Wednesday, August 29, 2007, 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio. Where a Masonic Funeral service will take place at 6:00 PM with the officers and members of Black River Masonic Lodge 786 F. & A. M. Lorain, also at 7:00 PM a prayer service will take place in the funeral home Wednesday evening.
Friends may also call Thursday, August 30, 2007, 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM in Hungarian Reformed Church, 1691 East 31st Street, Lorain, The reverend Peter L. Toth, pastor, officiate. After the funeral service the Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy, Chapter 20, Lorain will conduct military honors. Interment will be Friday, August 31, 2007, 12:00, Noon in Elmwood Cemetery Lorain.
