Joseph F. Melvin, 72, Retired Tire Stockman for Ford

Joseph F. Melvin, 72 of Lorain passed away on Friday, August 31, 2007 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.

Mr. Melvin was born in Nashville, TN on June 28, 1935. He spent his childhood in the Birmingham area. He was a US Army veteran and a retired tire stockman for Ford Motor Corp in Lorain.

He was a member of the UAW Local, American Legion Post 30 and the VFW Post in Vermilion.

Mr.Melvin is survived by daughters Roberta A. Melvin of Lorain, Rebecca E. Melvin of Vermilion, sons Lloyd W. Melvin, Curtis L. Melvin both of Lorain, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sisters Jean Ryan of Sandusky, Linda Thomas of Bangor, ME., Marlene Gruber of Huron, brothers Kenneth Baatz of Huron, and Carl Baatz of Sandusky.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nora Melvin in 1997, his mother Ernestine Townes, sisters Karen Baatz, and Eileen Edwards.

Friends may call at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township with full military honors provided jointly by the American Legion Post 30 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 451.
