Rose M. Weitzel, 88, Member of Midway Baptist Church
Rose M. Weitzel, (nee Maddalun), age 88, of Lorain, died Thursday September 13, 2007 in the emergency room of Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center following an extended illness.Rose was born in Lorain on July 4, 1919 and had been a resident of the city for her entire life.
A graduate of Lorain High School, she was employed as a seamstress for the Weitz Clothing Company of Lorain and later as a sales associate at Al Januzzi Shoes.
Mrs. Weitzel was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Elyria Township where she was active with the Silver Saints Group. Prior to joining the congregation at Midway Baptist, she had been a long-time member of Tower Baptist Church in Lorain.
She was a member of the Jolly Sixties Club in Elyria and was also well known for her efforts in delivering milk chocolate roses and inspirational poetry to people who were housebound due to illness and declining health throughout the area.
In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons Robert G. Weitzel of Sheffield Lake and Larry G. Weitzel of Fort Worth, Texas, daughter Kathleen Gaydosh of Lorain, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, four step great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Weitzel in 1970, by her parents Joseph and Catherine (nee LoFredo) Maddalun, brother Daniel, and sisters Josephine Kopas, Irene Hritsko. Roxanna Ricco, Antoinette Dore, and Mary Versace.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 16, 2007, from 3:00 7:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Charles Keesee, Pastor of Midway Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
