Katherine ''Kay'' Bobinsky, 90, Was Active In Numerous Community Affairs

Kay was born in Marianna, Pennsylvania on January 17, 1917 and had been a resident of Lorain since her childhood.
As a youth she graduated from Saint Stanislaus Parochial School and went on to attend Lorain High School.
During World War II she was employed by the American Shipbuilding Company as a checker and security specialist. She later worked as a sales associate for the Sears and Roebuck Company in downtown Lorain.
Mrs. Bobinsky was an active parishioner of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain where she was a member of the Marian Guild and the Young At Hearts Club. She also was privileged to have served on the planning committee that was responsible for rebuilding and renovation of the structure that the church currently occupies.
She was extremely active in community affairs and was the founder and original organizer of the Candy Stripers volunteer program at the former Saint Joseph Hospital. She was active as a Lioness with the Lorain Lions Club; she also was a member of the Kaycee Guild of the Knights of Columbus and was the founder of the Squire and Squirettes Youth Group within that organization. She volunteered with the Erie Shores Council of the Girl Scouts and was also a member of the Junior Women’s League of Greater Lorain.
In her free time she enjoyed gardening and interior decorating.
Survivors include her daughter Andrea L. Taylor of Lorain, a grandson Andrew Taylor, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew in 1997, by he parents Joseph and Mary (nee Koster) Jessel, by brothers Michael and Peter Jessel, and by sisters Stella Jessel and Sophie Stevens.
Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 7:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue where a rosary will be recited by the officers and members of the Saint Anthony Marian Guild at 3:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of her funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 1305 East Erie Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Joseph West, O.F.M. Conv., Pastor of Saint Anthony Parish and Reverend Mr. James Debrason, Permanent Deacon will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
