Velma J. Mihalcheck, 84, Enjoyed Flower and Vegetable Gardening

Velma J. Mihalcheck (nee Kozma) 84 of Lorain died Wednesday, September 19, 2007 in Town Center Care Center, Avon Lake following an lengthy illness.

Mrs. Mihalcheck worked at the Nagle Farm in Avon and at Sutter's Restaurant in Lorain.

She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church and the church's Saint Mary Altar Sisterhood and was a pirogue maker.

She loved to spend time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. Mrs. Mihalcheck enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and canning and cooking.

Among the survivors is her daughter Sandra Diaz of Lorain, a sister Louise Molnar of Lagrange, two grandchildren and one great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years Andrew L. Mihalcheck in 1978, her parents John and Barbara (nee Hegedus) Mihalcheck, brother Steve Kozma and a sister Elizabeth Kozma.

Friends may call Friday, September 21, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain where Parastas service will be Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Friends may also call Saturday, September 22, 2007 from 9:00 AM until time of funeral service at 10:00 AM in Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 2238 East 32nd Street, Lorain. The Reverend Arch-Priest Basil Stoyka, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
