Laverne L. Johnson, 76, Parker- Hannifin Airborne Retiree

Mrs. Johnson was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on April 20, 1931 and had been a resident of Elyria Township since 1955. She had previously resided in Lorain.
Laverne was employed as an inspector for the Parker-Hannifin Airborne Division of Elyria for many years. She currently attended Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Moose Club as well as the Ladies Auxiliary of Amvets Post # 47. In her free time she enjoyed aerobics, golf, and line dancing. Additional interests included bowling, water walking, and gardening. She also enjoyed trying her luck with slot machines.
She is survived by daughters Elaine Leach of Elyria, Linda Kosco, Lois Bozsoki, and Shirley Olah all of Lorain, sons Gary W. Johnson of Elyria, Ray Johnson of Wellington, fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, as well as by brothers Willard of New Brighton, Pennsylvania, Richard of Boise, Idaho, and Jack of Gary, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Johnson, Jr. in 1988, by her parents Orin and Lucinda (nee Brock) Beaver, by a brother Orin Sonny Beaver, Jr. and by her sister Eleanor.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Reverend Laurie Miller, Pastor of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church presiding. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
