Donald A. Dumire, 87, U.S. Steel # 4 Seamless Retiree

Donald A. Dumire, age 87, of Port Orchard, Washington, and formerly of Sheffield Township, died Saturday October 6, 2007 at the Ridgemont Terrace Nursing Home following a brief illness.

Mr. Dumire was born in Saint George, West Virginia on November 10, 1919 and had been a long-time resident of Sheffield Township from the early 1950’s until the spring of 2007 when he relocated to the Pacific Northwest.

A World War II veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Dumire fulfilled duty assignments as a Military Policeman; he was employed in the # 4 Seamless Mill at the Lorain-Cuyahoga Works of the United States Steel Corporation and was a member of United Steelworkers Local # 1104.

He is survived by his daughter Debra Bohn of Port Orchard, a brother Richard residing in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and sisters Jean Sell of Adrian, Michigan and Lenore Wilkenson of Toledo, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his wife Katherine (nee Aldridge) in 1998, by his father Clarence Dumire, by his mother Sarah O. (nee Miller) Dumire, and by brothers Harold and Virgil.

Friends may call Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Matthew Darrin, Pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, Lorain will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain, where military honors will be conducted jointly by the officers and members of American Legion Post # 30 and Mullen-Murray Post # 451 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
