Stella M. Olejko, 91, Enjoyed Family Activities with Her Children & Grandchildren

She was born May 8, 1916 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Stella graduated from Lorain High School. Before she married she worked at Andrews Dime Store in South Lorain for 10 years.

She was a member of St. Vitus Croatian Catholic Church in Lorain and the Croatian Fraternal Union.

Stella enjoyed gardening and family activities with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons John Olejko and daughter-in-law Linda of Gates Mills, Dr. Terry Olejko and daughter-in-law Ann of Powell and Lee Olejko and daughter-in-law Miriam Velez of San Jose, California, 3 grandchildren Stephanie Olejko of Gates Mills, Daniel Olejko of Powell and Beth Helle and her husband Mike of Fairfax, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years John J. Olejko on May 21, 2006, parents John J. Berish in 1953 and Katherine Berish (nee Vukus) in 1980, sisters Mary Birus in 1918, Helen Beres in 1944, Bertha Mazur in 1988 and Ann Garkish in 2002 and brother John J. Berish in 1983.

The family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the parish rosary will be recited Wednesday at 3:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vitus Catholic Church, 1785 E. 32nd St., Lorain. The Rev. Simon Nekic, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
