Thelma Lee Smith, 86, Participated with the Girls Auxiliary

She has been a Vermilion resident for the past 49 years moving from Memphis, TN. She worked as a cashier at Lake School in Vermilion, later worked at Community Health Partners as a ward secretary and retired from CSR.
She was a charter member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Vermilion where she was a Sunday school teacher and participated with the Girls Auxiliary. She also worked with the Awana's along side her son-in-law, Bill McCauley.
Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Wilson of Vermilion, Carol McCauley of Wakeman, and Sharon Wiltse of Sacramento, CA; brother, John Thomas Whitehorn of Memphis, TN and Lawrence Henderson Whitehorn of Muscle Shoals, AL; 6 grandchildren: Shelley Byrne, Sande Allgauer, Brian Wilson, Mindy McCauley, and Meghan Agnew; 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, James Lloyd Smith, parents, Henry and Ida (nee Turner) Whitehorn, daughter, Ruby Faye Smith, son James Lloyd Smith, Jr, granddaughter, Marcy McCauley; brothers: Henry Burton, James Cecil and Joseph Woodrow Whitehorn; and sisters: Mattie Winnie Nye and Emma Mae Bryan.
Friends may call Thursday, October 18, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Lakeview Baptist Church 591 Ferndale Ave. Vermilion, Friday, October 19, 2007, with Rev. Cliff Morris and Rev. Guy Morton co-officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
