Richard 'Dick' B. Green, 83, Enjoyed Golfing & Fishing

Richard 'Dick' B. Green, 83 of South Amherst, died Thursday, October 25, 2007 in Community Health Partners, Lorain after a short illness.

He was born April 9, 1924 in Elyria, OH and had been a South Amherst resident for 54 years moving from Amherst. He was a 1943 graduate of Wakeman High School where he played basketball on the county championship team and was named to the All County Team.

He worked as a Supervisor for Ohio Screw Products, Elyria for 37 years retiring in 1987. Mr. Green was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, South Amherst where he was involved in various committees including the church supper crew.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, and especially enjoyed basketball, playing on the South Amherst Recreation Teams for many years. He was also known for his love of pie and ice cream.

Survivors include his son, Richard (Francey) Green of Florence Twp.; grandson, Douglas Green of Berlin Hts.; brother, Nelson Green of Wakeman; and sister, Caroline Bechstein of Florence Twp.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Olive (nee Butler) Green, parents, Ezra and Hazel (nee Bristol) Green; son, Douglas Green in 1952 and grandson Michael Richard Green in 1999.

Friends may call Monday, October 29, 2007 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:30 am at the St. Johns United Church of Christ, 204 Leonard St. South Amherst, OH 44001, with Rev. Paul Eaton, pastor, Officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
