Mary Walchko, 86, She enjoyed assisting with the baking of nut rolls and making of pierogis

Photo of Mary  Walchko Mary Walchko, (nee Mahilo), age 86, of Lorain, died Thursday November 15, 2007 at the Amherst Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Mrs. Walchko was born in Elyria on June 24, 1921 and had been a resident of Lorain for most of her life.

She was a parishioner of Saint Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain and was also a member of the Ladies Society of the church.

In her free time, she enjoyed assisting with the baking of nut rolls and making of pierogis for church fundraising activities as well as volunteering at the parish school. Additional interests included baking and cooking, dancing, and crocheting.

Survivors include her husband Michael, Florida, daughters Janice Walchko residing in Sherman Oaks, California, and Karen Thomas and Patsy Maderitz both of Lorain, and grandchildren Derek Thomas, Jennifer Thomas, Michael Maderitz, and T.J. Maderitz.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents John and Katherine (nee Dudash) Mahilo, by brothers Alex, John, Harry, William, and Joseph, and by her sister Anna Mauer.
