Clara M. Zagorsky, 85, US Navy Waves Veteran

Clara M. Zagorsky (nee Koba), 85, of Lorain, died Thursday December 6, 2007 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.

She was born June 6, 1922 in South Amherst and had resided in Lorain since 1946.

Clara was a graduate of South Amherst High School. She served with the US Navy Waves as a Yeoman 2nd Class during World War II.

Clara worked at American Crucible in Lorain retiring in 1960. Prior to that she worked at General Industries in Elyria.

She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain, the North Coast Waves Chapter 21 of the Waves National, AMVETS Post #47 in Lorain, National American Legion Post 888, AARP and Lorain Community Seniors.

Clara enjoyed working crossword puzzles and word searches, gardening, bicycling, traveling and reading.

She is survived by her daughter Carol Rousseau of Lorain, son Atty. Floyd A. Zagorsky of Riverside, California and grandsons Zachary Rousseau and Sean Rosseau, both of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd S. Zagorsky in 1994, parents Anthony and Julia Koba (nee Posluzna) and brothers Stanley Koba and John Fred Koba.

The family will receive friends Monday 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at 10:00 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Robert J. Glepko, pastor, and the Rev. Mr. Robert Dybo, deacon, will concelebrate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
