Lewie W. Simpson, 94, Retired United States Steel Corporation

Lewie W. Simpson, age 94, of Lorain, died Friday, December 14, 2007 at the Avon Oaks Care center following an extended illness.

Lewie was born in Philippi, West Virginia on December 14, 1913 and had been a resident of Lorain since 1951.

He was employed as a coil technician in the rolling mills of United States Steel Corporation's Lorain-Cuyahoga Works. Previously he had been employed by the Fruehauf Trailer Company in Avon Lake.

Survivors include his daughters Betty Lou Markley of Lorain and Juanita J. Siefert of Springport, Michigan, four grandchildren, six great grand children, brother Earl Simpson of West Virginia and sister Kathlees Bennett also residing in West Virginia.

Lewie was preceded in death by his wife Elva (nee Phillips) in 1993, by his parents Lewis and Margret (nee Daugherty) Simpson, by brohers Craig and Orlan "Bill" Simpson, and by his sisters Sylvia Bunnell, Corda Posten, and Blanche DeLauder.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m.- 8 p.m. in the Wright Funeral Home, 216 North Walnut Street, Philippi, West Virginia; funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Barbour Memorial cemetery in Philippi.

Local arrangements are being handled by the Gluvna-Shimo_Hromada Funeral Chapel, Lorain.
