Mildred Fallis, 88, Worked at Western Automatic

Photo of Mildred Fallis Mildred Fallis, 88 of Lorain passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Kingston of Vermilion following a short illness.

Mrs. Fallis was born in New Kensington, PA on December 16, 1919 and moved to Lorain when she was just one year old. She was a 1937 graduate of Clearview High School. She was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain.

During WW II, she worked at Western Automatic, predecessor of Moen. She retired as the admitting supervisor for the former St. Joseph's Hospital in Lorain with 23 years service.

While her children were growing up, she was active in Girl and Boy Scouts and the PTA at Charleston Elementary School, including one term as president. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, baking and watching the Cleveland Indians.

At her church, Mrs. Fallis served with the Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Alter Guild, Ruth Circle, was a communion assistant, worked with the Children's Confirmation Program and served several terms as Church Council president.

She traveled 18 times with Medical Mission trips to several different economically depressed countries including Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. She served on the Ad Hoc committee for the Lorain County Free Clinic, where she also volunteered. She was a driver for Meals on Wheels and was a volunteer tutor for the Ohio Reads Program.

Mrs. Fallis is survived by her daughters Michele Wanek of Amherst, Myra Falisz of Laguna Beach, CA, son Mitchell Fallis of Lorain, 2 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, her former spouse, Michael R. Fallis.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Sophia (nee Glos) Bolcis, sisters Beatrice Welther, Eva Moir, Sophia Bolcis, brothers John B. Otero, Peter Bolcis, and Donald Bolcis.

A Memorial Service will be held at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Street, Lorain, OH, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 12, 2008 with Rev. Jimmy Madsen and Rev. Dr. L. H. Chamberlain, co-pastors, officiating.

Burial in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery Amherst Township will be private.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Endowment Fund at First Lutheran Evangelical Church, 603 Washington Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
