Virginia Bogdan, 86, Patria Romana Lodge # 38 Member

Virginia Bogdan, (nee Toth), age 86, of Lorain, died Saturday January 5, 2008 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center.

Mrs. Bogdan was born in Akron, Ohio on May 31, 1921 and had been a resident of Lorain since 1949.

She was a graduate of Akron Garfield High School and went on to attend the University of Akron where she pursued a business curriculum.

Virginia was a parishioner of Saint Basil Romanian Byzantine Catholic Church in Lorain; she was also a member of Patria Romana Lodge # 38 and a former member of the Saint Anthony of Padua Marian Guild.

Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, travel, and all forms of music.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-nine years Dan, daughter Mrs. Michael (Patt) Weber of Lorain, granddaughters Annie, Kiva, and Kay Weber, grandson Michael Weber, and one sister.

She was preceded in death by a son Joseph D. Bogdan in 2003, by her parents John and Elizabeth (nee Tomas) Toth, and by one brother.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday beginning with closing prayers offered in the funeral chapel at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed by the celebration of her funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Catholic Church of Saint Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Kenneth Wolnowski, Pastor of Saint Peter Parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

The family encourages contributions in Virginia's memory to either the Saint Vincent de Paul Society of the Church of Saint Peter, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44053 or to the Easter Seal Society of Northwestern Ohio, 1909 North Ridge Road, Suite #6, Lorain, Ohio 44055.
