Bernadine M. Celik, 73, Proprietor of My Place Ceramics Shop
Bernadine M. Celik (nee Turton), age 73, of Lorain, died Saturday January 5, 2008 at her residence while under the care of New Life Hospice following an extended illness.Mrs. Celik was born in Lorain on August 18, 1934 and had been a life-long resident of the city. She was a graduate of Lorain High School.
A parishioner of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain, she formerly served as a member and officer in the Saint Stanislaus School P.T.U.
Bernadine was the proprietor of the My Place Ceramics Shop in Lorain. In her free time she enjoyed porcelain reproduction dolls, crocheting, and needlepoint. Additional interests included flower gardening and Miniature Schnauzers.
She is survived by her sons David J. Celik of Akron, and Steven T. Celik and Peter T. Celik both of Lorain, daughters Mary Rose Carron of North Olmsted and Kathleen Redmon of Sheffield Village, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a sister Monica Klocek of Mead, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her husband Peter P. Celik in 2003, by her parents Steve and Hattie (nee Mislinski) Turton, by a brother William Turton, and a sister Yolanda Akosi.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday beginning with closing prayers offered in the funeral chapel at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed by the celebration of her funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Robert Glepko, Pastor of Nativity Parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
