Vincent Perrier, 81, Directed Band Concerts in Local Parks

Photo of Vincent Perrier Vincent Perrier, 81, of Lorain, died Thursday January 10, 2008 at his home after a six-month illness.

He was born November 21, 1926 in Lorain and had lived in Lorain most of his life.

Vince served with the US Army Air Corps during World War II as an Air Corp Cadet.

He was a graduate of Murray State College in Murray, Kentucky where he received a Bachelor Degree in Music Education. He taught music in Michigan and Lorain.

Vince worked at US Steel in Lorain as a Department Manager and organized development training retiring in 1986 after 30 years.

Vince arranged and directed band concerts in local city parks for many years. He was a member and past president of the American Federation of Musicians Local #146, a member and past president of Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity, a member of the Italian American Veterans Post 1 and a member of the US Steel Management Club. He enjoyed playing tennis, music, sailing, his vacation home at Pelee Island and most of all enjoyable times with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Georgene Perrier (nee Binder), daughters Constance Robb of Lorain and Kathryn Perrier of Bowling Green, sons David Perrier of Lorain and Donald Perrier of San Diego, California, 11 grandchildren, 5 great granddaughters and sister Marie Montalto of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his parents Dominic and Carmine “Minnie” Perrier (nee Bove), grandson Chris Robb, sisters Dena Dimacchia and Lucy Phillips and brother Alfred Perrier.

The family will receive friends Monday 5-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where a celebration of life will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am. The Rev. Mark Pemberton, pastor of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Amherst, will officiate. Private burial services will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
