Carl worked for American Ship Building before becoming an independent painting contractor and later retired as the head groundskeeper at George Daniel Field. Yet Carl was not the type of man to sit for long and after retirement took jobs doing maintenance for his church as well as the Christian Temple, Disciples of Christ Church.

His family would like to acknowledge the care Carl and his family received from the New Life Hospice staff.
