Jerry Ledford, 72, Republic Technologies Retiree; Enjoyed Being By the Lake
Jerry Ledford, 72, of Lorain, died Wednesday January 23, 2008 at his home after a short illness.
He was born July 9, 1935 in Akron and had resided in Lorain for the past 40 years.
Jerry was a veteran of the US Navy. He worked at US Steel and Republic Technologies in Lorain as a lab caster for 38 years retiring in 2001.
He was a member of Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Lorain. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time by the lake, bowling and fishing.
He is survived by his daughter Lori Schmiermund and granddaughter Kassey Schmiermund both of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria Ledford (nee Martin) in 2003, daughter Lisa Ledford in 1963 and parents Carl & Mary Ledford.
The family will receive friends Friday 5-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 1705 E. 31st St., Lorain. The Rev. Paul Krajnik will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans will conduct military honors.
