Carnie V. Shaw, 66, NASCAR Fan

Photo of Carnie V. Shaw Carnie V. Shaw, 66, of Lorain died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009 in his home following a sudden illness.

He was born September 24, 1942 in Wolfcreek, West Virginia. He came to Lorain in the mid 1960’s

Mr. Shaw retired in 2005 as a machinist for Michigan Springs in Elyria. He worked there for 15 years. He had also worked for Amherst Metal in Amherst for 16 years and Fruehauf Trailer Company in Avon Lake.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was member of the United Auto Workers 425, Lorain and Saint Lad’s Club and The Open Hearth Club, both of Lorain.

He was a big NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on engines.

Among the survivors are his wife of 3 years Linda D. Shaw (nee Ward); sons Anthony D. Shaw of Lorain and Wesley Shaw of Norwalk; brothers Darrell Shaw of Clear Water, Virginia and Allen Shaw of Manassas, Virginia; sister Airwanda “Dottie” Riffle of Wolfcreek, West Virginia and his grandchildren Erica Shaw, Emily Canterbury and Tyler Underwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Hazel (nee Davis ) Shaw.

Friends may call Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, (440) 277-8164. Where funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 5, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Dale Warwick, pastor of Cornerstone Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township. Where the American Legion Post 30, Lorain will conduct military honors.
