Peter J. Kozlowski, 77, Operated Elyria Home Decorating
Peter J. Kozlowski, 77, of Amherst, died Monday February 25, 2008 at Community Regional Medical Center in Lorain after a brief illness.He was born March 18, 1930 in Lorain and had resided in the Amherst and Lorain areas most of his life. He had also lived in Las Vegas for 10 years.
Peter graduated from the Lorain High School class of 1949B and then served with the US Army in Germany during the Korean War. He worked at Elyria Home Decorating operating the store for over 30 years before retiring in 1993.
Peter was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, the United Polish Club in Lorain and the Knights of St. John #281 in Lorain. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and traveling to Las Vegas.
He is survived by his sons Philip Kozlowski of Sandusky and Mark Kozlowski, Paul Kozlowski and Matthew Kozlowski, all of Lorain, daughters Cynthia Coleman of Vermilion and Sharon Kozlowski and Norma Kozlowski, both of Lorain, 12 grandchildren and brother Raymond Kozlowski of Elyria. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Ruth A. Kozlowski (nee Haas) in 2004, parents Peter & Mary Kozlowski (nee Skarupa), grandson Aaron Kozlowski and brother Myron Kozlowski.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 am. The Rev James F Mazanec, associate pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, will officiate. Cremation will follow and the ashes of both he and his wife will be interred in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain at a later date.
