Richard E. �Dick� Tomazic, 82, US Steel Retiree

Photo of Richard E. “Dick”  Tomazic Richard E. “Dick” Tomazic, 82, of Lorain, died Sunday March 9, 2008 at his home after a brief illness.

He was born March 30, 1925 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Dick graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1943B. He served with the US Army during World War II in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the EAME Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the American Theater Ribbon.

Dick worked at US Steel as an Expeditor in Conditioning for 42 years retiring in 1984.

He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Lorain, KSKJ Lodge #85 and the Buckeye Lodge.

Dick enjoyed gardening, reading, sports and casino trips.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Bertha “Pat” Tomazic (nee Patterson), dear father of Gary (Shari) Tomazic of Brunswick, Darryl (Beverly) Tomazic of Lorain, Deborah (Jim) Shedron of New London, Dennis (Myrna) Tomazic of Lorain, Cathy (Les) Conley of Lorain and Charlene (John Jr) Metelsky of Lorain, 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sister Angie Zgonc of Lorain and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Frances Tomazic (nee Intihar), brothers Jack Tomazic, Rudy Tomazic and Anthony Tomazic and sisters Frances Russ, Sophie Pogachar, Elsie Woodings, Jennie Zgonc and Mary Tomazic.

The family will receive friends Wednesday 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial Thursday at 10:00 am at St. John Catholic Church 2143 Homewood Drive Lorain. The Rev. Thomas Smith, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
