Donald P. Demyan, 72, Enjoyed Gardening, Bird Watching, & Horses
Donald P. Demyan, age 72, of Amherst, died Saturday March 15th at the Lake Pointe Health Center following an extended illness. He was born in Lorain on May 31st, 1935 and had been a life-long resident of Lorain County.
He was a graduate of Lorain High School, and went on to complete course studies at Lorain County Community College, Ohio University, and the American Institute of Banking.
Don was a veteran of the United States Army where he attained the rank of Specialist 4.
Mr. Demyan was most recently employed as a sales associate for Mike Bass Ford in Sheffield and had been the recipient of numerous awards for excellence in automotive sales. He retired from the dealership in 2003. He had previously been employed for fifteen years in a similar role at Ed Mullinax Ford in Amherst. He had formerly served as the proprietor of Demyan Meats and had also worked for the Demyan Building Company as well as City Bank.
A parishioner of Saint Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, his hobbies included gardening, bird watching, & horses.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-four years Denise (nee Zipp), daughters Karen Dembiec of Lorain, and Nicole Demyan of Amherst, sons Craig Demyan of Lorain and Justin Demyan of Amherst, five grandchildren, and brothers George Demyan of Lorain, Bill Demyan of Shaker Heights, and sister Dolores Teague of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his father Michael in 1940 and by his mother Mary (nee Urban) in 1980.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain where a Parastas service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday beginning with Panachida at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the Presanctified Funeral Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church - 2711 West 40th Street, Lorain. The Reverend Nicholas Rachford, Pastor of Saint Nicholas Parish will preside; burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
