William E. Hupfer, Jr., 81, US Steel Shipping/Receiving
William E. Hupfer, Jr, 81, of Lorain passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the home of his daughter following a brief illness.
Mr. Hupfer was born in Lorain on July 9, 1927, the son of the late William N. and Margaret (nee Ellis) Hupfer. He served in the U.S. Army as a PFC in WW II.
He was a member of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church; where he served as an usher and worked with Usher Committee. He also served with the hot meals programs.
Mr. Hupfer was employed in the shipping/receiving department of US Steel in Lorain, for 45 years retiring in 1986. He also worked part time for the former Lorain Ambulance Service for ten years.
He was a retired member of the Lorain Police Auxillary after 9.5 years service, Ohio National Guard, Lorain Division and was the color guard instructor for the Don-etts for 11 years.
Mr. Hupfer is survived by a daughter Linda G. Davieau of Lorain, son Keith E. Hupfer also of Lorain, grandson Todd Nagy, granddaughter Heather Bunt-Milliron, great granddaughters Brittany and Brianna Bunt, Lily Nagy, sister Jean Watkins of Lorain, a brother Donald Hupfer of Huron, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his life will begin with visitation with his family at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 27, 2009 with a memorial service to follow at noon in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. Rev. Greg Sellers, pastor of the Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial with full military honors, provided jointly by American Legion Post 30 and the VFW Post 451, will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township, OH.
