Photo of Betty L. Ashby Betty L. Ashby (nee Forrester), 86, of Vermilion, died Monday, March 23, 2009 after a short illness at the home of her daughter.

She was born May 16, 1922 in Springfield, Missouri and has lived in Vermilion since 1964.

She was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during WWII.

She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermilion and exercised regularly at the Vermilion YMCA. She volunteered at the Food Pantry and was a member of American Legion Post 397. She was a scholar, avid reader and an accomplished artist.

Survivors include daughters, Susan and her husband, Robert, Koeth of North Olmsted, Elizabeth "Libby" and her husband, Jimmy, Davis of Vermilion; her son, David H. and his wife, Marilyn, Ashby of Vermilion; 4 grandchildren, Emily Coppes, Robby Koeth, Brittany Drost and Alyssa Davis; 1 great grandchild, Madelyn Drost; and a brother, David L. Forrester of Centerville.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Harry W. Ashby, Jan. 26, 1997; parents, David L. and M. Louise (nee McComb) Forrester.

A Celebration of Betty's Life will be held April 5, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3747 Liberty Ave., Vermilion, Ohio. The Reverend Dr. Terry Parker will officiate.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.
