Salvador Silva, 72, Member of the United Steel Wokers Union
Salvador Silva, 72 of Lorain died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 in Community Regional Medical Center, Lorain following a long illness.
He was born July 25, 1935 in Lorain. He was a life long resident. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1955.
Mr. Silva retired in 1997 as a carpenter for United States Steel, Lorain Cuyahoga Works. He worked there for 42 Years. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104 and Sacred Heart Chapel both of Lorain. Mr. Silva loved his family movies, reading, woodworking, traveling, Mexican home cooking and long walks with his grand kids.
He is greatly missed by his wife of 52 years Tomasa Mickey (nee Aguilar) Silva of Lorain; sons Jessie M. (Patricia L.) Silva and Mark A. Silva both of Lorain, son-in-law Jorge Medina of Lorain. Also; brother Ralph Silva of Lorain, grandchildren Ashlee Rivas, Samatha Silva and Jorge M. and Miguel S. Medina all of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents Juan and Gregoria (nee Gaitan) Silva, daughter Denise M. Medina in 2006, son Salvadore S. Silva in 1976 and a brother Antonio Silva.
Friends may call Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday; closing prayers will be in the funeral home at 8:45 a.m. followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. Fr. William A. Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
