Ann L. Duchenois, 86, Loved Baseball and Fishing
Ann L. Duchenois (nee Miller), 86, was called to be with her Lord on Sunday morning, April 13, 2008 after a brief stay at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain.She was born in Lorain on July 7, 1921 to Adam and Mary Miller (nee Kalo), both deceased. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Cletus E. Duchenois and by brothers Frank, Joseph and Albert Miller and sisters Margaret Kuhn and Betty Kuhn.
She worked as a welder at the Lorain shipyards during World War II. In her early 20’s she was the pitcher for a city softball team that played at Oakwood Park, and later loved attending her granddaughter’s softball games where they were also pitchers. Annie also loved baseball and was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers. She always enjoyed her family, watching sports on TV, playing cards, fishing, feeding the birds and squirrels, and listening to organ music.
She will be sorely missed by her beloved daughter Diane and devoted son-in-law George Russell with whom she made her home for many years; son Kenneth; loving granddaughters Jessica and Jenna; step grandsons Curt and Shane and their families, and many nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 310 8th St., Lorain. The Rev. Daniel O. Divis, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
